There is a reason why property investments are touted. Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has rented out his apartment in Lower Parel, Mumbai, for a whopping Rs 2.60 lakh per month, according to property registration documents reviewed on the website of the Inspector General of Registration by Square Yards.

The transaction was registered a month ago in January 2025. Lower Parel is a prime residential and commercial hub in Mumbai, known for its premium living spaces and connectivity to business districts like Bandra-Kurla Complex and Nariman Point.

The apartment, located in Lodha Marquise – The Park, developed by Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Lodha Group), is part of a ready-to-move residential project spread across seven acres.

The property has a carpet area of 1,298 sq. ft. and includes two car parking spaces. The lease transaction incurred a stamp duty of Rs 16,300 and registration charges of Rs 1,000.

Square Yards’ analysis reveals Rohit Sharma and his father, Gurunath Sharma, bought the apartment in March 2013 for Rs 5.46 crore, reflecting a 6% rental yield. They also own another apartment in the same complex, purchased in 2013 for Rs 5.70 crore, which was rented out in October 2024 for Rs 2.65 lakh per month.

Rohit Sharma, born on April 30, 1987, in Bansod, Maharashtra, is an Indian cricketer and the current captain of the Indian men's cricket team in Test and ODI formats. Known for his exceptional batting skills, Sharma holds the record for the highest individual score in a One Day International match, with 264 runs.

Sharma is the only player to have scored three double centuries in ODIs. Nicknamed 'Hitman', Sharma has led the Mumbai Indians to five Indian Premier League titles and Team India to a T20 World Cup.
