(Bloomberg) -- Boris Johnson will urge the U.K. to come together after the years of division over Brexit as it finally leaves the European Union on Friday.

“The most important thing to say tonight is that this is not an end but a beginning,” Johnson will say in a video message to be released by his office at 10 p.m., an hour before Britain leaves the bloc. “This is the moment when the dawn breaks and the curtain goes up on a new act.”

Earlier in the day, the prime minister, who is determined to move the national conversation on from Brexit, will meet with his cabinet in Sunderland, northeast England, as part of an effort to show he’s interested in parts of the country where his Conservative Party hasn’t historically been strong.

“This is the dawn of a new era in which we no longer accept that your life chances -- your family’s life chances -- should depend on which part of the country you grow up in,” Johnson will say, according to his office. “This is the moment when we begin to unite and level up.”
