The population of Lithuania -- the fastest-shrinking European Union member-state -- edged higher for the first time in 28 years in 2019, data released this week showed. Fallout from the U.K.'s departure from the bloc as well as the arrival of immigrants from Ukraine and Belarus produced a net increase in migration for the Baltic country. The gain was modest, however -- just 145 people.
