Semenya Able to Compete as Swiss Court Suspends IAAF Regulations

(Bloomberg) -- A Swiss court ordered the International Association of Athletics Federations to immediately suspend the implementation of eligibility regulations against Caster Semenya, the South African two-time Olympic 800-meter champion.

The ruling by the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland means Semenya will be able to compete without restriction as a woman while her appeal against a Court of Arbitration for Sport's ruling is pending, according to an emailed statement from her lawyers.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport had ruled that female track athletes with naturally elevated testosterone levels must suppress the hormone to be allowed to compete in certain events.

The Swiss Supreme Court will issue another ruling on the continued suspension of the IAAF
regulations after receiving submissions from the sport's governing body, according to the statement.
