Weather Forecast: IMD Predicts Cold Wave Conditions In Rajasthan, Punjab And Delhi
The IMD has predicted that cold wave conditions are very likely to persist in isolated pockets over Rajasthan from Dec. 11 to 16.

The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted cold wave conditions at isolated pockets over northwest and adjoining central India over the next few days. In its daily bulletin, the weather department noted that cold wave conditions were observed in isolated pockets over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The forecast further stated that ground frost conditions were recorded in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand.
Cold Wave Warnings
The IMD has predicted that cold wave conditions are very likely to persist in isolated pockets over Rajasthan from Dec. 11 to Dec. 16, with isolated severe cold wave conditions expected on Dec. 11.
Cold wave conditions are also anticipated in parts of Punjab from Dec.11 to 16, in isolated pockets of Uttarakhand on Dec. 11, and in Delhi from Dec. 11 to 13. Additionally, cold wave conditions will affect Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh from Dec. 11 to 16, Saurashtra and Kutch on Dec. 11 and 12, and Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from Dec. 13 to 16.
The weather bulletin also indicates that cold day conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Rajasthan on Dec. 11 and 12 and in Madhya Pradesh from Dec. 11 to 13.
Fog Warnings
In addition to the cold wave, the IMD also predicted dense fog conditions during late-night and early-morning hours in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh till Dec. 12; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar till Dec. 13, and Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till Dec. 14 morning hours. In addition to this, ground frost conditions are also very likely in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand on Dec. 11 and 12.
Rainfall
In its daily bulletin, the weather department noted that a well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall over South Peninsular India on Dec. 11 and 12. Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Dec. 11 and 12, with isolated heavy rainfall on Dec. 13, 16 and 17.
