US Stock Markets Today: Muted Start For Wall Street Indices As Investors Await Fed Minutes

The broader index, S&P 500, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite opened almost flat as the trading commenced at the Wall Street.

All three main US stock market indices were little changed at the opening bell on Wednesday, as investors awaited the release of the minutes of the last US Federal Reserve meeting.

The broader index, S&P 500, and the 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average opened almost flat as the trading commenced at the Wall Street.

S&P 500 opened 0.02% higher at 5,910.66, whereas the 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average opened 0.03% higher at 42,542.10.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite opened around 0.11% lower at 19,469.37.

All the eleven sectoral indices declined in the early minutes of trade, led by utilities sector, communication services, industrial sector.

Among major companies, shares of eBay, Boston Scientific, Nvidia Corp., Nasdaq Inc., Microsoft Corp., Tesla Inc., saw gains in early trade. On the other hand, Boeing Inc., Apple Inc., Moderna Inc., Warner Bros Discovery Inc. saw declines.

Notably, the markets will be closed on Thursday to mourn the death of former President Jimmy Carter.

The Fed minutes are expected to be released at 2 p.m. (EST). The market will keep a keen tab as it may provide an insight into the Fed policy for the period ahead.

Among other asset classes, the yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds was little changed at 4.69%.

The dollar index rose 0.4%. The euro fell 0.4% to $1.0303 and British pound fell 1% to $1.2355. The Japanese yen fell 0.1% to 158.23 per dollar.

In the commodities market, spot gold advanced 0.63% to $2,665.16 an ounce. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, advanced 0.12% to $77.14 per barrel.

Bitcoin, the world's largest traded cryptocurrency fell 1.1% to $95,380.14.
