Indian equity benchmarks were subdued as of 1 pm. The BSE Sensex rose 700 points from day's low and the NSE Nifty 50 rose 0.2% to trade near 25,800. The trade deal has set the main cue for markets after months of FPI outflows.
On Tuesday, investors wealth rose by more than Rs 12 lakh crore after Indian stocks posted their best single-day rise in nine months after India signed a trade deal with the United States on Feb. 2. Financial stocks led the move, and export-focused shares helped lift the wider market after the deal eased a key source of uncertainty for domestic assets.

Just days after Nirmala Sitharaman's Budget 2026 announcement of a Securities Transaction Tax (STT) hike on derivatives transactions, SEBI chairperson Tuhin Kanta Pandey, in a recent Q&A session, was asked whether the market regulator would follow it up with further curbs.
In response, the SEBI chief stated it will follow the 'status quo' on the derivatives market, downplaying expectations of any immediate regulatory intervention while signalling a data-driven approach.
National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. has push the pedal on its long-awaited initial public offering with the board set to meet on Friday, Feb. 6, to constitute a committee to oversee the public issue. The panel will consist of Chairman Srinivas Injeti, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ashishkumar Chauhan and other nominees from the board, sources told NDTV Profit on Wednesday.
The rupee's biggest rally in seven years will give the central bank scope to rebuild its foreign-exchange reserves, potentially limiting further gains after the boost from the India-US trade deal, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday quoting analysts.
Barclays Bank Plc and Nomura Holdings Inc. are among those predicting that the Reserve Bank of India will use the recovery in the rupee to buy dollars, the report said, adding that they recommend shorting the rupee.

Shares of Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd. extended gains for the second consecutive trading session. The stock rose as much as 13.5% to Rs 1,324.50. Trading volume was 33 times its 30-day average, according to Bloomberg data. All the four analysts tracked by Bloomberg have a 'buy' rating on the stock. The analysts consensus price target tracked by Bloomberg was 1,733, implying a potential upside of 34% from the last regular trade.
Shares of Dishman Carbogen Amcis snapped its two-day rally and fell as much as 11.4%. Trading volume was 19 times its 20-day average, according to Bloomberg data. The stock has declined 19% in the past one month.

Gold and silver prices rose on Wednesday after the sharp fall over the past two days. Silver increased to Rs 2.67 lakh per kg, while gold rose to Rs 1.53 lakh per 10 grams.
In early Wednesday trade, gold held near $4,950 an ounce after it recovered part of its earlier decline. The metal built on a rise of more than 6% in the previous session. By Tuesday’s close, gold still sat about 12% below the Jan. 29 record, but remained nearly 15% higher for the year. Silver also steadied.
REC and PFC shares are in focus after a clarification on reports of a merger between the two lenders.
The company said the merger news is not based on details available with it. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced restructuring of the lenders on Sunday.

New York-listed shares of Infosys Ltd. and Wipro Ltd. fell more than 5% after Anthropic released an AI automation tool that investors worry could cut into their core businesses.
Anthropic added a legal tool to its website and said it can automate work such as contract review and legal briefings. The website said, “All outputs should be reviewed by licensed attorneys.”
Crude prices rose on Wednesday after the United States shot down an Iranian drone near a US aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea. President Donald Trump said diplomatic channels remain open, and the White House said US-Iran talks are still scheduled for Friday, as per reports.
Brent rose nearly 1.6% to $67.33 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate moved towards $64. Brent is up nearly 11% month to date amid Middle East tensions.
