Stock Market Today: Sensex, Nifty Snap Two-Day Gains; FPIs Remain Net Sellers

The S&P BSE Sensex was down 637 points or 1.04% at 60,657.45, while the NSE Nifty 50 was 190 points or 1.04% lower at 18,042.95.

  • The Cabinet has approved the National Hydrogen Mission, which was announced in the Budget Speech 2021-22 speech by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The broader market indices mirrored their larger peers; S&P BSE MidCap was down by 1.09%, whereas S&P BSE SmallCap opened lower by 0.93%.

All the 19 sectoral indices compiled by the BSE declined with S&P BSE Metal and S&P BSE Realty falling the most by nearly 2%.

The market breadth was skewed in favour of the bears. About 1,062 rose, 2,311 declined, and 138 remained unchanged on the BSE.

Also, The shares Allcargo Logistics Ltd. gained after Jefferies initiated coverage with a 'buy' call, betting on the company's partial truckload and multimodal transport businesses.

The scrip was trading 1.29% higher as against 0.79% losses in benchmark Nifty 50 as of 11:11 a.m.

The stock gained as much as 3.44% intraday. The relative strength index stood at 46.

Of the six analysts tracking the stock, four maintain 'buy', one suggests a 'hold' and one recommended a 'sell' rating. The 12 month consensus price target implies a upside of 22.8%.

  • HDFC Bank’s advances rise 19.5% YoY and 1.8% QoQ to Rs 15.07 lakh crore as of December 31, 2022.

  • On the NSE, the stock listed at Rs 103, a 9.57% premium.

  • Its IPO was subscribed 53%.

  • It allotted shares at the lower end of the price band, at Rs 94 apiece to investors after it failed to get full subscription.

Twelve out of the 19 sectoral indices compiled by the BSE declined, while only seven advanced.

The market breadth was skewed in favour of the bulls. About 1,467 rose, 1,017 declined, and 113 remained unchanged on the BSE.

The yield on the 10-year bond opened flat at 7.32% on Wednesday.
