NSE, BSE Holidays 2025: Full List Of Stock Market Holidays In May 2025

The stock market will be closed for ten days in May, including weekend holidays.

The stock market will be closed for ten days in May 2025. This includes nine weekend holidays, that is four Sundays and five Saturdays, and one public holiday on May 1.

According to the NSE trading calendar holiday list, the stock market will be closed on May 1, on account of Maharashtra Day. 

Full List Of NSE Holidays In 2025

According to the NSE calendar, there are 14 trading holidays in 2025. While one holiday is scheduled in May, here are the remaining holidays for 2025:

  • August 15 – Independence Day 

  • August 27 – Ganesh Chaturthi 

  • October 2 – Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti/Dussehra 

  • October 21 – Diwali Laxmi Pujan

  • October 22 – Balipratipada 

  • November 5 – Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev 

  • December 25 – Christmas 

As October 21 is a holiday for Diwali, a special 'Muhurat Trading' session will be done on that day.

Stock Market Highlights: April 29

Indian benchmark indices ended higher for the second consecutive session on Tuesday. The NSE Nifty 50 closed 7.45 points, or 0.03% higher at 24,335.95, while the BSE Sensex ended 70 points, or 0.09% up at 80,288.38.

From the Sensex firms, Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra, Eternal, HCL Tech, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Tata Consultancy Services and Bajaj Finserv were the biggest gainers.

In contrast, UltraTech Cement, Sun Pharma, Power Grid, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the laggards.

Stock Market Open and Close Timings

Trading on the equities segment happens on all days of the week (other than  Saturdays and Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance). The market timings of the equities segment are given below: 

A) Pre-open session 

Order entry & modification Open: 9:00 am 

Order entry & modification Close: 9:08 am

*with random closure in last one minute. Pre-open order matching starts immediately after close of pre-open order entry.

B) Regular trading session

Normal / Limited Physical Market Open: 9:15 am 

Normal / Limited Physical Market Close: 3:30 pm

C) Closing Session

The Closing Session is held between 3:40 pm and 4:00 pm

D) Block Deal Session Timings

Morning Window: This window shall operate between 8:45 am to 9 am

Afternoon Window: This window shall operate between 2:05 pm to 2:20 pm

Note: The Exchange may, however, close the market on days other than the above scheduled holidays or may open the market on days originally declared as holidays. The Exchange may also extend, advance or reduce trading hours when it deems fit and necessary.
