Stock Market Highlights: Sensex, Nifty Swing Back To Loss In Holiday-Shortened Week
Through this week, the Nifty declined 0.69%, while the Sensex was down 0.68%.

The benchmark equity indices ended a holiday-shortened week lower on Thursday, with the NSE Nifty 50 extending the fall for the second day and the BSE Sensex declining for the fourth straight day.
The Nifty ended 73.30 points or 0.33% lower at 22,397.20, while the BSE Sensex closed 200.85 points or 0.27% down at 73,828.91 after they opened in the green.







Through this week, the Nifty declined 0.69%, while the Sensex was down 0.68%. In the previous week, the Sensex was up 1.71%, while Nifty rose 1.96%.
The Nifty closed in the negative for three of the four sessions in this volatile week, while the Sensex closed in the red for all the sessions. In the last two sessions, the Nifty rose in the early hours of trading but gave up the gains to close in the negative.
Reliance Industries Ltd., Infosys Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd. and Bharti Airtel Ltd. weighed on the Nifty the most.
ICICI Bank Ltd., State Bank of India, Bharat Electronics Ltd., Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Power Grid Corp. led the gains.

Ten out of the 12 sectors on the NSE fell. The Nifty Bank and PSU Bank were the only ones to close in the green, while Realty fell the most.

Through this week, the Nifty IT was among the biggest draggers, while Realty was the worst-performing sector.

On the BSE, Bankex and Power were the only two out of the 21 sectors to advance, while Realty fell the most.
The broader markets ended lower, with the BSE MidCap ending with a loss of 0.77% and the SmallCap falling 0.62%.
The market breadth was skewed in the favour of the sellers as 2,448 stocks declined, 1,529 advanced and 128 remained unchanged on the BSE.
