Godfather Of AI Takes On Nvidia’s Jensen Huang Over AI Slowdown

Geoffrey Hinton, the Nobel laureate widely known as one of the “godfathers of AI”, has pushed back sharply against Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s dismissal of warnings over artificial intelligence risks, arguing that the technology has reached a point where its development should be slowed. Hinton, speaking to NDTV on Wednesday, put the risk of AI causing catastrophic harm at 10-20%, contrasting it with Huang’s recent assertion that there is a 0% chance AI will destroy the world by 2030. Huang has also argued that development should continue rapidly and criticised recent doomsday warnings as lacking scientific grounding.
