FPIs Turn Buyers Ahead Of US Trade Deal Announcements

The net buying by FPIs and DIIs comes ahead of Trump's announcement of trade deals with various countries, starting from 9:30 pm (IST) onwards.

Foreign portfolio investors turned buyers of Indian equities, snapping a five-day selling streak on Monday. Overseas investors net sold shares worth Rs 323 crore, according to the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

Domestic institutional investors became net buyers after a session and bought equities worth Rs 1,740 crore, the data showed.

The net buying by FPIs and DIIs comes ahead of Trump's announcement of trade deals with various countries, starting from 9:30 pm (IST) onwards.

"I am pleased to announce that the UNITED STATES TARIFF Letters, and/or Deals, with various Countries from around the World, will be delivered starting 12:00 P.M. (Eastern), Monday, July 7th," he posted on social media earlier in the day.

Notably, the FPIs have sold shares worth Rs 729 crore in July so far and Rs 14,590 crore in the previous month, as per NSDL data. In 2025 so far, the FPIs have net sold equities worth Rs 78,630 crore.

India's benchmark indices ended flat on Monday, ahead of US President Donald Trump's tariff announcements expected later in the evening. Trump is expected to present his tariff letters to countries, ahead of the interim relief expiring on July 9.

The NSE Nifty 50 ended flat at 25,461.30, and the BSE Sensex also closed almost unchanged at 83.422.50. During the day, Nifty fell 0.21% to trade at 25,407.25 and Sensex declined 0.20% to 83,262.23.
