FPIs Stay Net Buyers For Third Straight Day

Foreign portfolio investors remained net buyers of Indian equities on Thursday for the third straight session as they mopped up stocks worth Rs 4,667.9 crore.

Domestic institutional investors remained net sellers for the third time as they offloaded equities worth Rs 2,006.2 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

On Wednesday, the FPIs bought equities worth Rs 3,936.4 crore. So far in April, the FPIs have offloaded shares worth Rs 23,103 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.'s data.

In March, the overseas investors had net offloaded equities worth Rs 3,973 crore, which was significantly lower as compared to the net selling of equities worth Rs 34,574 crore in February. This was preceded by net selling of Rs 78,027 crore in January.

In 2025 so far, the FPIs have net sold equities worth Rs 1.39 lakh crore, the NSDL data showed.

The benchmark equity indices recorded their best week in four years as they closed higher for the third consecutive session on Thursday.

The NSE Nifty 50 closed 414.45 points or 1.77% higher at 23,851.65, while the BSE Sensex ended 1,508.91 points or 1.96% up at 78,553.2. The indices surged over 4.3% in a curtailed week lathered with long weekend holidays.
