Tulsi Virani is an iconic and unforgettable name for Indian television fans, especially those from the early 2000s. Amid viral claims and rumours of a potential spin-off or reboot to the cult-favourite Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Smriti Irani has set the record straight regarding her return.
Rumors started after claims went viral that Smriti Irani had signed for a spin-off of Balaji Telefilms' Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Fans speculated whether Tulsi Virani would pass the torch to the new generation of the Virani family. Some fans believed Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 would bring in a modern twist with Smriti Irani embracing her previous role. However, the actress turned politician offered a stern claim on these rumors.
Setting the record straight, Smriti Irani commented, "May want to check PR content with authorities that have IP rights." Talking about her appearance in the show, she said, "I am not associated with any other show except Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi."

Additionally, she confirmed there is not going to be any spin-off program featuring her. She said, "No spin off program is authorised for my engagement legally which entitles use of my image and / or personality." Concluding her statement, she warned her audience against viewer misinformation as she commented, "Do check so that viewer is not misinformed."

Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi hit the TV screens back in 2025 with a limited sequel. Though it featured some of the original cast members, it also introduced new faces. Amar Upadhyay, Ketki Dave, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, and Shakti Anand were back for the sequel. The new faces included Rohit Suchanti, Aman Gandhi, Shagun Sharma, and Tanisha Mehta.
The sequel streams on JioHotstar and airs on Star Plus. As per reports, the limited sequel is planned to have 150 episodes.
The original Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi aired from July 2000 to November 2008. Across these 8 years, the television series grew to become the iconic daily soap, which played in almost every Indian household. It had more than 1800 episodes throughout.
