Actor Norah Fatehi on Thursday (today) appeared before the National Commission for Women in connection wtih the controversial song 'Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke' from the Kannada film 'KD: The Devil', which released on April 30.
The Hindi version of the song featuring Nora and Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt, which released on March 15 on YouTube, came under severe public criticism over its allegedly sexually explicit lyrics. Following the backlash, the makers removed the Hindi version from YouTube, though it continued to circulate across platforms, according to a report in The Indian Express. The lyricist, singer and director had also issued apologies.
Several complaints have been filed, including one with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Speaking to reporters, she apologized and mentioned that it wasn't her intention and that she was put in such a situation. She said, “There was no intention to offend anybody, but of course, I have to be responsible as an artist."
Talking about her goal now after this matter, she said she wants to give back to society. She said, "I have decided to sponsor the education of orphan girls. After this matter, I have decided to sponsor the education of orphan girls."

The National Commission for Women (NCW) had previously issued summons to Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, lyricist Raqueeb Alam, producer Venkat K. Narayana, and director Kiran Kumar after taking suo motu cognizance of media reports. The commission, in a statement, said the dance number "appears to be sexually suggestive and objectionable," violating various laws like Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the IT Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Nora Fatehi had earlier clarified that she had shot the song in its original Kannada version and had not approved the Hindi lyrics.
Dutt had issued an apology before the commission, and voluntarily committed to support the education of 50 tribal girls.

At the time, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw, while responding to a question raised by Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadauria in Lok Sabha, had said the song had been banned.
