Justice Dipak Misra Will Be The Next Chief Justice Of India
Justice Misra will take over from Justice JS Khehar who retires on August 27 this year.

The central government has cleared the appointment of Justice Dipak Misra as the 45th Chief Justice of India. Justice Misra is currently the senior-most judge in the apex court and will take over from Justice JS Khehar who retires on August 27 this year.
Justice Misra started his practice as an advocate in the Odisha High Court. He was appointed to the apex court in 2011.
His appointment as Chief Justice of India is in keeping with the practice of appointing the senior-most Supreme Court judge to this position.

Currently, Justice Misra is hearing important matters like the WhatsApp privacy case and the SEBI-Sahara dispute. He will also head the bench that will hear the Ayodhya Ram Janambhoomi land dispute from August 11.
Justice Mishra will retire as Chief Justice of India on October 2, 2018.
