Petrol and diesel prices in India are revised every single day. Fuel rates change at 6 am each morning, based on movements in international crude oil prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate the previous day. That means the price at your neighbourhood pump on Monday could be different by Tuesday — and staying on top of those changes is now easier than ever.
Here are three ways to do it.
1. Send An SMS
This is perhaps the quickest and most accessible method, particularly for those without a smartphone. To get the indicative prices of petrol and diesel in your city or town for the day, SMS "RSP followed by a space and the dealer code of your petrol pump" to 92249 92249. For Mumbai, for instance, SMS "RSP 108412" to the same number. Dealer codes are prominently displayed on the premises of each petrol pump, and IndianOil's website also lists specimen codes for 39 locations across the country, including the four metros. Do note that the prices received via SMS are indicative in nature and may vary from outlet to outlet within the same city or town.

2. Use The IndianOil ONE App
IndianOil's mobile app — IndianOil ONE — lets users locate their nearest IndianOil petrol pump, track prices, and access a range of interactive features including e-billing, loyalty transactions, and complaints. The app is available on both Android and iOS. It is particularly handy if you want to compare prices across pumps in your area before deciding where to fill up.
3. Visit The IndianOil Website
For those who prefer a desktop or browser-based check, you can log on to www.iocl.com to verify fuel prices directly. The petrol-diesel price section on the site carries dealer code references for major cities, making it straightforward to cross-check what you'd pay at a specific pump.
Whichever method you choose, remember that daily price changes come into effect at 6 am every day — so it is worth checking first thing in the morning if you are planning a long drive or a fuel stop on your commute.
