President Droupadi Murmu, in her Independence Day eve address, said India has successfully brought more than 25 crore people out of poverty, describing the achievement as a significant milestone in the country's development journey.
"We are moving forward towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The benefits of development should reach every person, as India progresses on the path of a modern nation," Murmu said.
Highlighting India's digital transformation, the President said the country has set an example of a digital revolution and has built some of the world's best digital infrastructure. India now accounts for more than half of the world's real-time digital transactions, she said, adding that digital payments have transformed everyday transactions.
Murmu also said 59 crore account holders have been brought under the Jan Dhan Yojana, highlighting the role of financial inclusion in India's development journey.
On women's empowerment, the President highlighted the Lakhpati Didi initiative, saying around 3 crore women have benefited from the campaign. She said the upliftment of deprived sections has been given priority and efforts are being made to establish new standards in women's empowerment and development.
Murmu said India's economy is projected to grow at more than twice the global average despite wars and instability around the world. She also described India's youth as the country's most valuable asset.
The President urged citizens to support the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, calling for both individual and collective efforts to protect the environment.
She also highlighted the government's efforts to strengthen India's sports ecosystem through initiatives such as Khelo India, saying these programmes are producing positive results and contributing to national development.
On examination reforms, Murmu said comprehensive steps are being taken to curb unfair means in public examinations and make the system more transparent, secure and trustworthy. She called for everyone's support to ensure the present and future security of students.

Recalling Operation Sindoor, Murmu praised the valour of India's armed forces and said the operation sent a strong message to terrorists and their supporters.
"Terrorists and those responsible for attacks will have to face the consequences," she said, stressing that terrorism will not go unanswered.
Referring to Pakistan, Murmu said the decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with a country that supports terrorism was taken in the national interest and to protect the interests of Indian farmers.
The President also paid tribute to those who contributed to India's freedom struggle, saying, "I humbly bow to all the great sons and daughters of the country whose efforts led to our independence."
