Actor Hrithik Roshan has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal Mumbai Metro construction accident in Mulund, calling the incident “heartbreaking and traumatic” and urging authorities to prioritise stringent safety measures across all ongoing infrastructure projects in the city.
The accident took place around 12.15 pm on Feb. 14 along LBS Road near the Johnson & Johnson junction, when a parapet segment from the under-construction Metro Line 4 came crashing down onto vehicles below. An autorickshaw was crushed in the impact, leading to the death of Ramdhan Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, who had come to Mumbai just a week ago. Apart from the fatality, three others were injured, with one reported to be in critical condition. Fire brigade teams and local authorities carried out the rescue operation, clearing debris and shifting the injured to nearby medical facilities.
Sharing a video of the incident on social media, Hrithik Roshan conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured a speedy recovery. While he commended the swift action taken by the authorities to fix accountability, the actor underlined that prevention must be the top priority, especially at a time when large-scale development work is underway across Mumbai's busiest stretches. He stressed that the safety of construction workers as well as daily commuters is “of paramount importance” and voiced hope that strict guidelines and protocols would be enforced to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Police have arrested five officials linked to contractor firms Milan Road Buildtech and DB Hill LBG. Multiple agencies have begun investigations to determine whether there were structural lapses, negligence or violations of safety norms at the site.
In the aftermath of the collapse, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the victim's family. Civic authorities have also initiated a broader review of safety practices at Metro construction zones across the city.
Roshan's reaction echoes a growing public sentiment that development cannot come at the expense of lives, and that stricter monitoring, regular safety audits and clear accountability for contractors are urgently needed.
