Almost 1.3 lakh Indian passengers have returned to India from the Middle East region and regular flying operations are taking place from the UAE, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

Air India and IndiGo will be starting operations from other countries in the Middle East such as Saudi Arabia, according to Aseem R Mahajan, additional secretary (Gulf) of the MEA.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India is in constant touch with the Gulf Cooperation Council and is helping with commercial flight options. The Indian embassy in Tehran will also help Indian to leave Iran with alternative options, he said.

Jaiswal said that India has identified 9,000 Indian nationals in Iran.

"These 9,000 Indian nationals comprise students, seafarers, business people, professionals and some pilgrims...Several Indian nationals, mostly students, left the country and reached home," he said.

He further reported that the Centre is assisting those Indian nationals who wish to travel to Azerbaijan and Armenia and from there to take commercial flights to return home. He further said that they are assisting them with visa and land border crossings.

On Wednesday, over 500 Indians stranded in Qatar were evacuated to New Delhi and other destinations the Indian mission in the country said, as cited by NDTC. It warned those still in the country against approaching any unidentified objects, debris, or fragments.

The Indian Embassy in Qatar said in an advisory posted on social media platform 'X' that Qatar Airways scheduled to operate two flights to India on Thursday, amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

"More than 500 Indians stranded in Qatar travelled to New Delhi and other destinations on Qatar Airways flights on March 11," it said.
