The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to announce the Class 10 results by April 20, as previously indicated, alongside a significant transformation in the examination structure with the implementation of two board assessments starting from the 2026 academic term.

Traditionally, CBSE has released Class 10 results during the second week of May. Once available, students can access their CBSE Class 10 scores on the official websites, cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in by entering their roll number and date of birth.

The scorecard will detail subject-specific marks, overall marks, and passing status.

Dual board exams in one academic year

In accordance with the updated format, CBSE is administering Class 10 board examinations biannually. The first exam, conducted between February and March, is compulsory for all students. In contrast, the second CBSE exam, planned for May, is optional for those intending to enhance their scores.

This dual-examination framework has been introduced in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aimed at alleviating exam pressure and offering students an extra chance to excel.

Under the revamped CBSE board exam system, the result released after the initial exam will be pivotal for students considering a retake. Those wishing to elevate their scores can participate in the second exam for selected subjects. The highest score achieved from both attempts will be utilised for the final marksheet.

Minimum passing & exam pattern

To pass the CBSE Class 10 examination, students must attain a minimum of 33 percent marks in every subject, encompassing both theoretical and internal assessment elements. Students who fail to meet this baseline will qualify to take improvement or compartment exams.

CBSE has also restructured the exam pattern to adopt a competency-based methodology, emphasising conceptual comprehension over memorisation. A considerable segment of the question paper now comprises application-orientated and case study queries.

Simultaneously, the CBSE Class 12 exams are currently in progress and will conclude on April 20. The CBSE results for the senior secondary examination are anticipated in May.
