The 15th edition of Aero India kicked off on Feb. 10, with the jets of the Indian Airforce displaying stunning mid-air manoeuvres across the Bengaluru sky. Aviation enthusiasts who attended the event at the Yelahanka Air Force station were thrilled to see the Russian and US stealth fighters go face-to-face to deliver a breathtaking performance. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, known for their seamless coordination, painted the sky with the tri-colour while showcasing some of their iconic formations.
As we enter the second day of Aero India 2025, several Indian and foreign aircraft are set to put up more daring performances. Let's take a look at the line-up-
HHT (Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40)
Developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), this aircraft serves as a robust, cost-effective platform for pilot training. It is equally useful in aerobatics and instrument flying.
LUH (HAL Light Utility Helicopter)
This versatile, lightweight helicopter, designed by the HAL, is mainly used for troop transport and casualty evacuation. It can be deployed in challenging, high-altitude environments like the Himalayas.

The multi-purpose fighter aircraft was originally of Russian design but the HAL was credited for producing its license. Known for its agility and vast strike range, the SU-30MKI is suitable for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
HT-2
This was India's first indigenously manufactured trainer aircraft, developed by the HAL in the 1950s. For the IAF, the HT-2 has been a cornerstone of pilot training for several decades.
IJT (Intermediate Jet Trainer)
Also known as HJT-36 Sitara, this pilot trainer is specially designed for the transition from basic aircraft to jet fighters. More than 70% of its components including the airframe and flight control systems are domestically sourced.
Tejas LCA Mk 1A
An advanced version of the LCA Tejas, this multi-role fighter jet features state-of-the-art avionics, radar and weapon systems and is capable of ground attack as well.
HANSA-NG:
This two-seater trainer aircraft developed by the National Aeronautical Laboratories (NAAL) is specially designed for recreational flying and glider towing.
Dornier 228 Test Bed:
It serves as a mid-air laboratory for testing advanced aerospace systems. The test bed is also crucial for boosting the development and certification of indigenous defence technologies.
Surya Kiran Aerobatic System
Established in 1996, the SKAT operates the British-built Hawk Mk 132 advanced jet trainers featuring the colours of the Indian flag. All these pilots are specially trained for aerial performances while showcasing skills and artistry.
F-35
Developed by Lockheed Martin, the F-35 Lightning II is a fifth-generation multi-role stealth fighter aircraft. The aircraft comes in three variants F-35A (conventional take-off and landing) F-35B (short takeoff and vertical landing), and F-35C (carrier-based)-making it adaptable to diverse operational requirements.
KC-135
The KC-135 Stratotanker has undergone numerous upgrades since its introduction in the 1950s. These include improved avionics, modernised engines for better fuel efficiency and reliability, and enhanced refuelling systems to support more aircraft types. Structural modifications have extended its service life. These upgrades have ensured the KC-135 remains a vital component of the United States Air Force's (USAF) refuelling fleet.
B-1B
Developed by Rockwell International (now part of Boeing), the B-1B Lancer is a supersonic strategic bomber. The aircraft is known for its distinctive variable-sweep wing design and long-range and high-speed strike capabilities.
Su-57 Felon
The Su-57 Felon is developed by Russia's Sukhoi Design Bureau. It is a fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter aircraft with advanced stealth capabilities and supermaneuverability. and cutting-edge avionics. It is equipped with advanced systems such as the N036 Byka radar, with multiple arrays for 360-degree situational awareness, and the Irbis-E infrared search and track (IRST) system that helps to detect and engage targets without relying on radar.
