Trump Says He Will Remove Tariffs on China If Trade Deal Reached

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump said he will remove tariffs on Chinese products if U.S. negotiators reach a trade deal with Beijing.

Negotiations are going “extremely well” between the U.S. and China as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer conduct talks in Beijing this week, Trump said Friday at the White House. The president qualified his remarks, saying progress only matters if they reach a deal.

If they reach an agreement, Trump said “it would be my honor” to remove the tariffs.
