Raghopur carries a rare political legacy, having sent two Chief Ministers to the Bihar Secretariat including Lalu Prasad Yadav (1995, 2000) and Rabri Devi (2000 bypoll, twice in 2005), and a Deputy Chief Minister, their son Tejashwi Yadav, who won the seat in both 2015 and 2020.
Yet its influence extends beyond the state. The region has also produced three Union Ministers: Ram Vilas Paswan, his son Chirag Paswan, and his brother Pashupati Kumar Paras, all elected as MPs from Hajipur.
