Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will hold its first meeting of FY 2025-26 between April 7 and April 9 to review the benchmark interest rates. It is the 54th meeting of the MPC and its decision on the repo rate will be announced at 10 a.m. on April 9.

Apart from the RBI Governor, the MPC includes two senior central bank officials and three people appointed by the central government. All eyes will be on any possible announcement of another rate cut as the central bank's MPC will meet amid a global turmoil over the US tariffs.

The RBI usually conducts the MPC meeting every two months, leading to six meetings in a financial year. During these meetings, the MPC reviews interest rates, money supply, inflation outlook and several other macroeconomic metrics.

The other five meetings are scheduled for June 4-6, Aug. 5-7, Sep. 29 - Oct. 1, Dec. 3-5, and Feb. 4-6, 2026.
