Vodafone India has fired its latest salvo in India's increasingly competitive mobile data market. The country's second largest telecom operator has launched hourly data packs for prepaid customers, with prices starting at Rs 16 an hour.
The newly launched 'SuperHour' pack will offer customers unlimited 4G or 3G data, depending on the customer's handset, Vodafone said in a press release on Friday.
Vodafone's new offering will also give unlimited local calls within the network at Rs 7 per hour; while unlimited 2G services can be availed at Rs 5 an hour.
The release, however, added that the pricing may vary from circle to circle.
The SuperHour voice and data packs will allow customers to make unlimited repeat purchases, meaning a full day of unlimited internet under this offer will set you back by Rs 384.
The offer will be launched in select circles on January 7, and will be rolled out across some other circles by January 9. Customers in states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Telengana will not be able to avail this offer, according to the release.
