Uflex Ltd. will invest Rs 317 crore in advanced recycling technologies that include establishment of two new recycling plants in Noida. The two facilities will have a combined annual capacity to process 39,600 metric tons of plastic waste.

The recycling plants will significantly boost the production of rPET and rPE materials for use in food packaging, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Currently, UFlex has recycling plants in India, Poland, Egypt, and Mexico, processing post-consumer multi-layered mixed plastic, multi-layer aseptic packaging, and polyethylene terephthalate waste.

Headquartered in Noida, UFlex also enjoys a global reach with advanced manufacturing facilities in India, UAE, USA, CIS, Nigeria, and Hungary.

This comes after the company received approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration for its recycling process. This approval allows UFlex to use recycled polyethylene in food packaging, marking a major step in reducing plastic waste.
