TVS Motor Company reported steady growth in its April auto sales, led by strong demand for electric vehicles and three-wheelers, even as the broader two-wheeler segment showed moderate expansion.
The automaker reported that total sales rose 7% year-on-year to 4.73 lakh units in April, compared with the same period last year. Domestic and overseas two-wheeler sales increased 6% to 4.55 lakh units, reflecting resilient demand across commuter and premium motorcycle segments.
Electric vehicle (EV) sales stood out, jumping 36% year-on-year to 37,771 units. The sharp rise underscores growing consumer acceptance of electric scooters and motorcycles, supported by new model launches, wider charging infrastructure and improving affordability.
Three-wheeler sales also saw robust growth, climbing 37% to 18,637 units during the month, driven by strong demand for last-mile mobility solutions in urban and semi-urban markets.
Exports recorded marginal growth, rising 3% year-on-year to 1.2 lakh units, as global demand conditions remained mixed amid economic uncertainty in key overseas markets.
