Hyundai Motor Q4 Profit Jumps 57% On Demand For SUVs, Genesis

Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co reported a 57 per cent surge in quarterly profit on strong demand for its high-margin sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and premium Genesis cars, and forecast its sales this year will jump in top auto markets China and North America..However, Hyundai's fourth-quarter net profit of 1.3 trillion won ($1.18 billion) fell short of an average analyst estimate of 1.5 trillion won, compiled by Refinitiv, hurt by a strong won..The South Korean currency rose about 7 per cent against the dollar in the three months to December.
