Anthropic Warns Of 'Existential Risks' As It Eyes $2-Trillion Valuation

Anthropic, the company behind Claude AI, reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025 and expects to commit as much as $518 billion to cloud computing and infrastructure in the coming years. The filing underscores the enormous cost of developing advanced AI models. It also warns that increasingly capable AI systems could pose “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity." Anthropic is seeking a valuation of more than $2 trillion through its planned stock market listing, more than twice the $965 billion valuation it secured in its Series H funding round in May.
