Happy New Year Knocks Down More Box-Office Records

Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Happy New Year is performing strongly at the domestic box office and is now the fourth biggest Bollywood grosser this year, says a report.

Happy New Year has so far collected Rs 123.8 crore at the domestic box office, says a report from trade website Koimoi.com. Happy New Year hit the Rs 100 crore feat in just three days, setting a new Bollywood record.

Released on Friday, Happy New Year collected Rs. 108.86 crore in its opening weekend across India, said Red Chillies Entertainment.

Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year is a heist drama.

The film also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Sood, and Vivaan Shah.

Happy New Year also had a strong opening weekend in overseas markets. Happy New Year collected Rs 29.50 crore in the international markets over its first three days, says a separate report from trade website Koimoi.com.

In its first four days, Happy New Year has surpassed the lifetime collections of Akshay Kumar's Holiday which had collected Rs 112.65 crore and also Salman Khan's Jai Ho which had collected Rs 111 crore at the domestic box office, says the report.

Happy New Year has now become the fourth highest grosser of 2014, behind Kick, Bang Bang and Singham Returns.
