Good News for N.J. Commuters: No Major Train Delays Seen Tonight

(Bloomberg) -- New Jersey Transit has cleared a train car that derailed in Manhattan and said it expects no major service disruptions during Friday's evening rush hour.

Amtrak, the tracks' owner, “ruled out any issue with the infrastructure” at Pennsylvania Station, which underwent repairs a year ago, railroad spokesman Jason Abrams said in an email.

Amtrak owns the station and shares it with the nation's two biggest commuter operators, NJ Transit and the Long Island Rail Road.

NJ Transit said it was investigating the cause of a “minor, slow-speed derailment” at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, spokesman Jim Smith said in an email. No injuries were reported. The incident caused hours-long delays initially and again this morning.
