(Bloomberg) -- The criminal fraud trial of former Theranos Inc. President Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani was delayed by at least a day as the court continued to struggle with selecting a jury.
Opening arguments were reset from Tuesday to Wednesday for Balwani, who was Elizabeth Holmes's boyfriend while working as second-in-command at the blood-testing startup she founded.

The process of picking 12 jurors and alternates for Balwani's trial was slow-going last week as numerous potential panelists revealed they knew about Balwani from media coverage of Holmes's four-month trial, which ended with her January conviction for defrauding investors. U.S. District Judge Edward Davila in San Jose, California, interviewed some prospective jurors privately to determine whether they were biased.
In addition, at least three would-be jurors were excused last week after telling the judge it would be a hardship to sit through Balwani's trial, which is expected to take more than three months.
