IDFC First and AU Small Finance Bank officials were chargesheeted by CBI in the Haryana funds scam probe.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed its first chargesheet in the alleged Rs 504-crore Haryana government fund siphoning case involving officials Of IDFC First Bank and AU Small Finance Bank state government employees and private individuals, The Tribune Reported. 

The chargesheet was submitted before a special court in Panchkula against 15 accused, including six bank officials, three Haryana government public servants linked to different departments, representatives of two shell entities and one private individual. All the accused are currently in judicial custody.

The accused have been booked under charges including criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery, destruction of evidence and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The CBI said investigation against the 15 accused has been completed for the offences mentioned in the chargesheet, while probes into other accused persons and alleged irregularities in additional departments are still underway.

As per the report, the case pertains to the alleged misappropriation of around Rs 504 crore from accounts belonging to various Haryana government departments.

Investigators suspect that bank officials, in connivance with public servants, siphoned off public funds through fraudulent transactions.

The case was initially registered by Haryana's State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau before being transferred to the CBI for further investigation.
