Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s auto segment posted an overall sales of 40,102 units in November, a drop of 4.3% over the preceding month, as chip shortage continue to hurt the supply.
M&M’s passenger car sales too fell 3.4% over October to 19,458 units in November.
"The issues around semiconductor-related parts continue to remain a challenge for the industry," Veejay Nakra, CEO of Automotive Division at M&M, said in the statement, adding that the company is closely monitoring the situation and is taking appropriate steps.
Nakra, however, added that the demand remains strong across its product portfolio of SUVs, Pickups, and small commercial vehicles.
The Farm Equipment segment sales also suffered a drop in sales as the tractor sales slumped 41% over the preceding month to 27,681 units in November.
Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment sector at M&M, said that the rural sentiments continue to remain positive on account of good Rabi sowing and high reservoir levels. "Escalation in procurement for Kharif crop will bring steady cash flows, which is expected to boost tractor demand.”
