Hero Moto August Sales Update (YoY)

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Tuesday reported a 10.88% rise in total sales to 7,508 units in August as compared to 6,774 units in the same month last year.

Last month, domestic sales were at 5,385 units and exports at 2,123 units, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.

The company had registered 3,850 units in domestic sales and 2,924 units in exports during August 2025, it added.

"August delivered a strong sales performance with 40% growth in domestic sales driven by robust festive demand starting from Onam and good response to New City and ZR-V," HCIL Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Kunal Behl said.

"We remain optimistic of retaining this momentum and building on the strong customer response across our portfolio," he added.

Renault India on Tuesday reported domestic wholesales of 2,842 units in August 2026.

The company's cumulative domestic wholesales for January-August 2026 stood at 31,979 units, up over 47 per cent from the corresponding period last year, it said in a statement.

"Renault India is expanding its product portfolio as customer demand increasingly shifts across petrol, CNG, hybrid and electric powertrains. Under its futuREady strategy, the company plans to offer seven models across multiple powertrain options," the company stated.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Tuesday reported total sales of 5.79 lakh units in August, registering 8% year-on-year growth.

In August 2025, total sales stood at 5.34 lakh units.

Domestic sales last month were at 5.17 lakh units, logging 8% growth year-on-year, a company statement said.

Exports stood at 61,000 units in August 2026, up 15% compared to 53,000 units exported a year ago.

For the year-to-date period of FY27 (April-August 2026), HMSI recorded total sales of 27.33 lakh units as against 24.25 lakh units in the same period a year ago.

Suzuki Motorcycle India on Tuesday said it registered a 6% growth in two-wheeler sales at 1,20,611 units in August, compared to the year-ago month.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL), a subsidiary of Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation, had recorded total sales of 1,13,936 units in August 2025.

Domestic sales in the previous month stood at 1,03,118 units, rising 8% from 91,629 units in August last year.

Export sales stood at 17,493 units in the month under review, compared to 22,307 units in August 2025, the company said.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Tuesday reported total sales of 32,842 units in August this year.

These include 28,410 units sold in the domestic market and 4,432 units exported, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement.

"As we look ahead, we remain positive about the opportunities presented by the upcoming festive season," TKM Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Sabari Manohar said.

Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd on Tuesday reported a marginal 2% year-on-year decline in total wholesales in August to 9,350 units.

The automaker’s total wholesales in the month under review comprised 3,426 units in the domestic market and 5,924 units in exports. The company had posted total wholesales of 9,541 units in August last year.

Nissan Motor India's domestic wholesales recorded a 147.5% YoY growth at 3,426 units in August, compared to 1,384 units in the corresponding month a year ago.

Maruti Suzuki's management Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., and Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer said demand momentum continues to remain very strong across key segments, underpinning confidence in the company's near-term growth outlook. The company noted that production was impacted by a planned three-day factory shutdown for maintenance, but stressed that it was a routine exercise and not linked to any weakness in demand.

Mahindra & Mahindra is witnessing healthy on-ground demand across both its internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) portfolios, with the company remaining upbeat about growth prospects heading into the festive season, according to Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, M&M, and Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd.

Speaking to NDTV Profit, he said demand has been particularly strong in southern India during Onam, while M&M is ramping up production capacity, targeting 60,000 ICE units by the end of September and maintaining a robust festive-season production plan amid an encouraging response to the newly launched BE6 SPORTEQ.

Two-Wheeler: Total two-wheelers registered a growth of 21% with sales of 591,437 units in August 2026 as against 490,788 units in August 2025. Domestic two-wheelers registered a growth of 18% with sales of 433,796 units in August 2026 as against 368,862 units in August 2025.

Electric Vehicle: Two-wheeler EVs registered an exponential growth of 137% with sales of 59,453 units in August 2026 as against 25,138 units in August 2025.

International Business: Total International Business sales registered a growth of 29% with sales of 174,452 units in August 2026 as against 135,367 units in August 2025. Two-wheelers sales registered a growth of 29% with sales of 157,641 units in August 2026 as against 121,926 units in August 2025.

Three-Wheeler: Three-wheelers registered a growth of 34% with sales of 25,103 units in August 2026 as against 18,748 units in August 2025. 

TVS Motor Company, part of TVS VENU, recorded monthly sales growth of 21% with sales of 616,540 units in August 2026 as against 509,536 units in August 2025.

Ashok Leyland’s total sales rose 38% year-on-year to 21,038 units in August, while domestic sales increased 43% to 19,438 units.

VST Tillers Tractors Limited reported a decline in sales for August 2026, with total volumes falling 17.3% year-on-year to 3,720 units from 4,499 units in the corresponding month last year.

The decline was led by the power tiller segment, where sales dropped 17.4% to 3,387 units in August 2026 from 4,100 units a year ago. Tractor sales also fell 16.5% year-on-year to 333 units from 399 units.

Total sales for the year-to-date period stood at 24,634 units, up 3% from 23,925 units in the corresponding period last year.

Power tiller sales during the year-to-date period rose 3.7% to 22,638 units from 21,827 units, while tractor sales declined 4.9% to 1,996 units compared with 2,098 units in the year-ago period.
 

Force Motors Ltd. reported increase in domestic sales by 62.14% YoY to 3,721 units from 2,295 units in August 2025. The export sales, however, declined 25% to 81 units during the month, compared with 108 units a year earlier.

On a combined basis, domestic and export sales rose 58.22% year-on-year to 3,802 units in August 2026, against 2,403 units sold in the corresponding month last year.

Royal Enfield posted monthly sales of 1,26,479 motorcycles in August 2026, registering an 11% growth over the same period last year.

Eicher Motors' total sales rose 11% YoY to 1,26,479 units in August 2026, driven by a 15% increase in models up to 350cc and EVs, while sales of models above 350cc declined 13%. International business grew 10% year-on-year.

Sales to other OEMs declined to 5,298 units in August from 10,095 units a year ago. However, Maruti Suzuki's total domestic sales, including passenger vehicles, LCVs and OEM supplies, increased to 185,376 units from 144,145 units. 

On the export front, the company shipped 33,844 units in August, lower than 36,538 units a year earlier. 

Maruti Suzuki's total domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales rose to 176,971 units, compared with 131,278 units in the same month last year. Sales of the Super Carry light commercial vehicle (LCV) stood at 3,107 units in August, up from 2,772 units in the year-ago period.
 

Maruti Suzuki's total passenger car sales rose to 85,965 units during the month from 66,450 units a year earlier. 

The company's utility vehicle (UV) portfolio, comprising models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6, recorded sales of 79,045 units in August against 54,043 units in the year-ago period.

Meanwhile, Eeco van sales stood at 11,961 units in August, compared with 10,785 units in the same month last year. 

Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Mini segment, comprising the Alto and S-Presso, increased to 8,799 units in August from 6,853 units a year earlier. For the April-August period of FY27, cumulative sales in the category nearly doubled to 65,190 units, compared with 33,197 units in the corresponding period of FY26.

The company's Compact and Mid-Size portfolio, which includes models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR, recorded sales of 77,166 units in August, up from 59,597 units in the year-ago month.

For the first five months of FY27, sales in the segment rose to 394,017 units, compared with 304,514 units in the same period last fiscal, highlighting sustained demand across Maruti Suzuki's core product lineup.

In August 2026, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 219,220 units. Total sales in the month include domestic sales of 180,078 units, sales to other OEM of 5,298 units and exports of 33,844 units. The company surpassed the milestone of 1 million units in total sales within the first five months of FY 2026-27.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) recorded total monthly sales (domestic exports) of 65,796 units in August 2026, registering a YoY growth of 8.8%. The total sales comprised domestic sales of 54,396 units, up 23.6% YoY and exports of 11,400 units.

JSW MG Motor India last month launched its Tomahawk SUV, built on the company's first SUV on its Multi-New Energy Vehicle platform, ADAPT. The latest SUV model Tomahawk is available in both EV and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrain options.

The company has also commenced dispatches of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV to dealerships across India, JSW MG Motor India said.

JSW MG Motor India reported a 14% YoY rise in August wholesales, reaching 7,508 units, the company announced on Tuesday. The sales volume during August 2025 were recorded at 6,578 units.

The company said it continued its strong momentum across both its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolios during the reporting month.

Domestic tractor sales in August 2026 were at 9,523 tractors registering a growth of 20.5% as against 7,902 tractors in August 2025. The tractor industry maintained a steady performance in August 2026, supported by improving monsoon conditions, healthy Kharif sowing progress, and stable rural sentiment.

While growth percentage moderated compared to earlier months, demand continued to be supported by expectations of better farm incomes and ongoing agricultural activity.

Looking ahead, Kharif crop outcomes, reservoir levels, and the deferred festive season are expected to support demand, although a higher base effect and rising cost pressures may moderate industry growth going forward.

August saw strong growth across both cargo and passenger segments, lifting overall sales by 40%. For the April-August period, healthy passenger vehicle demand more than offset a marginal decline in cargo vehicle sales, resulting in a 14% increase in total volumes.

Mahindra Group said it is moving towards taking possession of the first package of approximately 800 acres of land for its largest integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing facility at an industrial area in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The upcoming facility at Additional Butibori -- an industrial area developed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) -- will be complemented by a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Ltd earlier this year announced its plans to set up a greenfield facility across 1,500 acres in Vidarbha with a committed investment of Rs 15,000 crore.

SML Isuzu reported a strong growth with total sales rising 40% year-on-year to 1,175 units, compared with 841 units in the corresponding period last year. The growth was led by the cargo vehicle segment, where sales surged 53% to 492 units from 321 units a year ago. Passenger vehicle sales also remained robust, increasing 31% year-on-year to 683 units from 520 units, reflecting broad-based demand across the company's key business segments.
