Adani Defence & Aerospace, in partnership with the Defence Research and Development Organisation, launched its Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025 on Tuesday. This is India’s first such system developed under a public-private partnership model.

BK Das, director general of electronics and communication system of DRDO, highlighted India's commitment to indigenous defense technology and self-reliance according to a release on Tuesday.

Developed under DRDO’s Transfer of Technology framework, the system addresses the increasing threat of drones in modern warfare, a statement from Adani Defence said. Recognising the rising use of drones for reconnaissance and offensive operations, the system provides a countermeasure, offering long-range protection, agility, and precision, it further read.

The system is equipped with advanced sensor capabilities for automatic detection, classification, and neutralisation of drones. The integrated system is mounted on a single 4x4 vehicle, ensuring high mobility and operational flexibility.

It incorporates a multi-layered defense approach, featuring a high-energy laser system for precise drone neutralisation, a 7.62 mm gun for aerial threat engagement, and advanced radar, SIGINT, electro-optical sensors, and jammers for real-time target acquisition, tracking, and neutralization within a 10 km range. This integration of counter-drone technologies into a single platform allows for rapid response and adaptability to diverse threat scenarios, according to the firm.

Ashish Rajvanshi, chief executive officer of Adani Defence & Aerospace, emphasised the unveiling as a testament to India's thriving defense innovation ecosystem. He highlighted Adani Group's role in translating this technology into an operational solution for the armed forces.

Rajvanshi emphasised the system's mobility and integration of multiple counter-drone technologies, ensuring rapid response and operational flexibility. Das reaffirmed DRDO's dedication to developing indigenous, next-generation solutions in collaboration with the Indian industry to bolster national security, expressing confidence in the system's role in protecting key defense and civilian assets.

The launch of the Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System displays India’s focus on indigenous defense production, reducing reliance on imports and strengthening national security.

As drone technology advances, this collaboration between Adani and DRDO represents a significant step in developing, homegrown solutions.
