Budget 2025 Expectations Live: Automakers Demand Support For Green Technology

"We request the government for appropriate merit-based policies that support and help in popularising full range of greener technologies and alternative fuels thereby helping in faster and greater adoption of multiple sustainable mobility solutions," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Country Head and Executive Vice President of corporate affairs and governance Vikram Gulati said.


Budget 2025 Expectations Live: Port Infrastructure Development

Suresh Kumar R, Managing Director, Allcargo Terminals Ltd., expects continued thrust on capital expenditure for physical and digital infrastructure and emphasis on port infrastructure development for attaining 10,000 MTPA port capacity by 2047.

To enhance EXIM trade, we expect the budget to outline policies to leverage existing assets and infra -structure in and around ports, said the Allcargo Terminals' MD. "For instance, opening up handling of air cargo by CFS-ICDs, exempting any service such as storage handling of containerized Agri products from the purview of GST," he further said.

"Continuing export promotion incentives and facilitating the development of export hubs will further strengthen Indian manufacturing to be globally competitive and attract investments which will boost Indian exports," he said.


Budget 2025 Expectations Live: Allocation For EV Ecosystem

Simplifying the GST structure for the different classes of vehicles & components is something the auto industry wants, said Piyush Arora, MD & CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India.

"A long-term vision for favorable tax structure catering to different automotive technologies would certainly benefit the industry. The product development cycles are quite lengthy and require substantial investment which needs to be considered," he said.

Arora further shared that budget allocation on facilitating the EV ecosystem like charging infrastructure will give further lift to sustainable mobility.

"Allocating a budget for better and safe road infrastructure will facilitate the growth of the auto industry. There are early signs of auto industry growth slowing down. Therefore, budgetary initiatives to boost disposable income of consumers is necessary to support robust growth," he said.


Budget 2025 Expectations Live: Reducing Taxes

 VP Nandakumar, MD and CEO, Manappuram Finance Ltd., expects that the finance minister will implement necessary policy measures to curb price increases.

"This could involve reducing taxes on consumer goods such as packaged food and edible oils. This would boost household disposable income and positively impact private consumption," he said.

"Furthermore, I believe the Budget should include measures to encourage savings through tax rationalisation and stimulate loan growth. A separate announcement on developing future-proof digital infrastructure for the financial sector in the era of artificial intelligence is also anticipated," Nandakumar.
