US President Donald Trump on Monday signaled that the Iran-US war could 'end very quickly' despite his Tuesday's deadline warning for Tehran.
Trump made the remark while speaking to media after his address at the 2026 White House Easter Egg Roll.
The US President also stated that Iran's response to the 15 point proposal drafted by regional mediators was a 'big step' but was not "good enough."
He claimed that individuals speaking on Tehran's behalf were “more reasonable now,” while reiterating Washington's long-standing position that Iran must not be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon.
Trump also engaged in rare praise of the Iranian armed forces, calling them "capable fighters and very tough people', but reiterated that the Tuesday deadline was true and 'final'.
"The enemy is strong, not so strong like they were about a month ago," he remarked.
Reiterating his ultimatum of demolishing Iran's bridges and power plants if it did not 'yield' to the US, Trump stated that he was interested in taking the country's oil reserves, adding, "The American people would like for US forces to "win and come home."
"Because it's there for the taking, there's not a thing they can do about it. Unfortunately, the American people would like to see us come home. If it were up to me, I'd take the oil. I'd keep the oil. I would make plenty of money," he said.
Trump said that Iran still has some missiles and drones left and that the Iranian people would fight the current administration when it is safe for them. He also stated that the Iran War would "hopefully be over quickly" and said that there may be multiple alternatives.
“We could leave right now and it would take them 15 years to rebuild what they had. We could leave right now but I want to finish it off,” Trump said.
Trump also pushed back on reports of his low approval rating and said that his voter base loves what he's doing.
"I'm not losing MAGA (Make America Great Again), MAGA loves what I'm doing," Trump said.
