The main US stock market indices opened in the green on Wednesday after delivering their worst performance since April in the previous session.

The S&P 500 opened 0.3% or 2.4 points higher at 6,817.26, tech-heavy Nasdaq opened 0.26% or 59.6 points up at 23,013.93, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average started the session 0.35% or 167.71 points higher at 48,656.3.

As of 10:15 a.m. EST, S&P 500 and Dow Jones traded 0.69% higher, while Nasdaq traded 0.64% higher.

Speaking at the World Econnomic Forum, US President Donald Trump assured that Washington would not make use of force to get hold of Greenland. Earlier, Trump had claimed that forceful acquisition of the Arctic island was not out of the question, sending the Wall Street into a frenzy.

"I don't have to use force (to get Greenland). All the US is asking for is Greenland," adding that it is the United States alone that can protect Greenland.

"That's the reason I am seeking immediate negotiations to once again discuss the acquisition of Greenland. Just as we have acquired many territories in history," said Trump.

The President also assured that the acquisition will not be a threat to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation or NATO, and instead enhance its security.

However, Trump called Greenland a part of North American territory, claiming that giving it back to Denmark was a "stupid" mistake. America wants "full ownership" of Greenland, he added. The Republican president also pushed for a Fed rate cut, stating that it would be good for everyone.

The US President also talked about the Wall Street and underscored that the stock market will double in value because of him.

After the markets opened, all but one sectoral indices traded in the green, with the Energy Sector leading the gains and Consumer Staples sector leading the decline.

Similarly, the most of the magnificent seven stocks traded higher including Nvidia Corp., Tesla Inc., and Google-parent Alphabet Inc. Nvidia traded 1.4% higher, while Tesla traded 1.19% higher, and Alphabet traded 1.41% higher.

Among the commodities spot gold prices rose, while crude oil prices slumped.
