Ukraine has agreed to a peace deal with Russia, with only minor details yet to be worked out between the two warring countries, CBS News reported on Tuesday, citing a US official.

As the report emerged on Kyiv's agreement to the potential peace plan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to social media to state that the talks with the United States are underway.
"Communication with the American side continues,” he said in an X post, adding, “I am grateful for all of America’s efforts and personally for President Trump’s efforts."
The development comes amid the ongoing meeting between a US delegation and Russian officials in the United Arab Emirates to discuss the ceasefire plan.
The US delegation, led by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, has held talks with its Russian counterpart since Monday that went "well", US Army Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Tolbert was reported as saying.
Following the reports of ceasefire, crude oil prices slipped sharply. Brent Crude futures were down 2.5% at $61.15 an ounce, whereas the US West Texas Intermediate futures were down 2.86% at $57.17 per ounce.
Trump's Peace Plan
US President Donald Trump aims to establish a lasting ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine through his 28-point peace plan, which was put forth by him last week.
The proposal requires Ukraine to cede additional territory to Russia, agree to restrictions on its military, and give up on its ambitions to join the NATO. Kviy had earlier resisted these conditions, seeing them as a tantamount to surrender.
Trump has mounted pressure on Ukraine to agree to the peace plan, and set a deadline of Tuesday for its acceptance. There were concerns raised among the US allies in Europe, who voiced fears that Washington was pushing Kyiv to accept a deal that favoured Moscow.
Zelenskky, last week, told reporters that Ukraine was facing a precarious situation, as the country was faced with the choice of "losing its dignity or losing a key partner".
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has already indicated his acceptance for the deal, saying it will form the "basis of a final peace settlement".
