Iran's army said on Wednesday that it had targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier with coastal cruise missiles, as reported by the state-run media.
Press TV, Iran's state run TV channel said the operation involved missiles and drones, and cited Iranian military statements saying the carrier was struck and forced to move away from the area.

Iran's state-run news agency IRNA said the commander of the Iranian Navy, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, described the carrier's movements as being under continuous watch and said it would be targeted if it entered the range of Iran's missile systems.
IRNA also said cruise missiles were launched towards the US carrier group and that the group changed position after the attack.
Press TV claimed that the strike was carried out by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Navy and described the carrier as being rendered non-operational, with the vessel and its strike group retreating from regional waters. The outlet also said the attack took place in the Sea of Oman, about 340 kilometres from Iran's maritime borders.
The report came amid continuing military tensions in West Asia. There was no immediate reaction from the United States.
