Iran has denied US President Donald Trump's recent claims that Washington and Tehran have been engaging in talks for a "complete and total resolution" of hostilities in West Asia.

Trump has said that there would be a five-day pause on attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure conditional to the success of these talks. "I am pleased to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East," as per Trump's post on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday.

Iran said that there have been no talks with Trump nor are there such talks ongoing, regarding the matter via a senior security official as cited by Iras's semi official Tasnim news agency which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).  The official said that Trump's comment amounts to psychological warfare.

According to Iran's FARS news agency, that cited officials, Trump had backtracked on his threats to Iran's energy infra due to Iranian threats. These threats are attacks aimed at the information technology infrastructure, fuel and energy infrastructure and desalination infrastructure that belonged to the US and the "regime in the region" in retaliation to the attacks on Iran's energy infrastrucuture that Trump had threatened.

"Following previous warnings, if Iran's fuel and energy infrastructure is attacked by the enemy, all energy, information technology, and desalination infrastructure belonging to the US and the regime in the region will be targeted,” Iran's military operational command said in a statement.

US President Donald Trump had earlier threatened to "obliterate" Tehran's power plants if it did not open the Strait of Hormuz within 48-hours.

Tasnim News Agency further reported that the country will continue to respond to attacks and defend itself.

Iran's state-run Mizan News Agency further reported that the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Trump's comments were attempt to cut energy prices.
