A post by Gaurav Kheterpal, founder and CEO of Vanshiv Technologies, has sparked discussion online after he claimed that a candidate left the company shortly after joining and accepting a revised salary package, eventually moving to another organisation offering Rs 25,000 more.
Kheterpal began his post on X with: “Imagine selling your soul for 25K! That too when you are on 15 LPA. (sic)”
According to his Kheter, the candidate had accepted an offer from the company at a package of Rs 15 lakh per annum. Three days before joining, she allegedly asked for a Rs 50,000 increase in the package.

Kheterpal said the company agreed to the request as it had already waited three months for the candidate to complete her notice period and did not want to risk another last-minute withdrawal.
The candidate then joined the company, completed the onboarding process and collected a company laptop, Kheterpal claimed.
He said she subsequently requested permission to work from home citing personal problems, which the company approved.
"You wait for a candidate to serve full notice period of 3 months, 3 Days before joining, candidate asks you to increase their package by 50K - you somehow agree as you don't want another last minute back out, Candidate shows up, does onboarding, collects laptop & asks for 'work from home' due to personal problems (sic)," Kheterpal wrote.

According to the him, the candidate stopped responding to calls, emails and instant messages the following day. After the company eventually managed to contact her, she allegedly said she could not continue due to personal reasons.
“Finally, we manage to get in touch somehow. Candidate says ‘I can't continue due to personal reasons.' The audacity is unbelievable - candidate says - ‘Get your laptop collected',” he said.
Kheterpal further claimed that the company later discovered that the candidate had joined another organisation that was offering Rs 25,000 more.
The CEO said he had to personally intervene after the company laptop was not immediately returned. He claimed the company warned the candidate that legal proceedings would be initiated if the device was not returned.
“As the founder & CEO, I have to intervene and send an email stating we'll initiate legal proceedings. Candidate realises this sh*t is real and returns laptop,” Kheterpal wrote.
The incident, according to Kheterpal, left the company having to restart its hiring process after waiting three months for the candidate to join.
“I really wish ‘AI DOES take away such candidate's jobs'. After 3 months, we're back to square one while the candidate fulfilled her greed for 25K! (sic),” he concluded.

The post has since triggered a wider discussion online around job offers, salary negotiations, candidate communication and the practice of leaving a company shortly after joining.
Some users also questioned the candidate's alleged conduct, while others argued that employees have the right to accept better opportunities but should communicate their decisions professionally.
