Google Trends has shared significant insights into what people were busy looking out for in India this week. Overall, the search activities on Google remained dominated by a mix of events, ranging from the high-stakes India vs Pakistan match at the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 to the controversy surrounding the Galgotias University at the five-day India AI Impact Summit 2026 at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, according to Google Trends.

The Winter Olympics in Italy as well as Iftar and Sehri timings also remained among the top search trends on Google. Leading the pack was the cricket match between India and Pakistan in the group stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 with more than 5 million searches.

Here is taking a look at some of the major trending searches by Indians last week:

India vs Pakistan

India played an exciting match against Pakistan on a dry and tricky surface in Colombo. An impressive knock of 77 from Ishan Kishan took the Indian side to a total of 175/7. Later on, early strikes by Jasprit Bumrah (2/17) and Hardik Pandya (2/16) dented Pakistan's run chase as the side was eventually bowled out for 114.

India AI Impact Summit 2026

Another major talking point this week was the India AI Summit that kickstarted on Feb. 16 at the Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.

Searches related to the Summit surged by 100% on Google, and went on to exceed the 200K-mark.

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, the India AI Summit witnessed the participation of several heads of state, global AI leaders, heads of global tech giants, and philanthropists.

Galgotias University

As per Google Trends data, searches related to the private institution surged by 1,000% to cross the 200K-mark about two days ago.

That happened after professor Neha Singh at Galgotias University told DD News that a robotic dog on display called Orion at the India AI Summit was "developed by the Centre of Excellence at Galgotias University." Later on, it was revealed that the robotic dog was Unitree Go2 that is a commercially available quadruped robot made by China-based Unitree Robotics.

Amid the controversy, the institution was asked to vacate the premises of the India AI Summit at Bharat Mandapam.

Iftar Timings

The holy month of Ramadan has kickstarted after the crescent moon was sighted in various cities across India on Wednesday (Feb. 18). This occasion ushers in a sacred period of fasting, prayer and reflection for Muslims. It starts with Sehri (pre-dawn meal) and ends with Iftar (meal to break the fast).

On Google Trends, the Iftar time remained among the top searches, crossing the 500K mark and recording a massive 900% jump.

2026 Winter Olympics: Women's Single Skating

Alysa Liu has added Olympic figure skating gold to her world title after she beat a standout field in the women's final. She has become the first American woman to do so since 2002, as per NBC News.

The 2026 Winter Olympics or the XXV Olympic Winter Games are taking place in Italy from Feb. 6 to 22. The games are being co-hosted at two cities - Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. After Liu's victory, searches related to free skating surged by more than 2 million and witnessed a 1,000% spike.
