In another high-profile exit, Uber's India and South Asia Public Policy Head Shweta Kohli has quit the San Francisco-based ride-hailing firm, a little over a year after joining it.
Kohli confirmed the development to BloombergQuint over the phone. She will join cloud-based software developer Salesforce as country director of government affairs.
“I'm extremely proud of the team we've built to push forward progressive ride-sharing reform measures in one of the fastest growing regions for the company. I'm sure Uber will continue to grow from strength to strength in India and South Asia,” Kohli said in an e-mailed statement.
Kohli is the latest of several high-profile exits from the company. The firm's European policy chief Christopher Burghardt quit in October. In September, Uber's Chief Legal Officer Salle Yoo, too, stepped down from the company.
Kohli, a former Journalist, had joined Uber in September last year and was responsible for the company's relations with government officials, policymakers and others.
Uber recently approved SoftBank Group Corp.'s offer to buy a multi-billion-dollar stake in the company. The agreement, if passed, will allow SoftBank, the investment firm Dragoneer, and others to invest at least $1 billion in the ride-hailing firm and proceed with a tender offer in coming weeks to buy up to $9 billion in shares from existing investors, Bloomberg reported.
