Oppo has introduced the Find X8 Ultra, its premium offering for 2025. It comes with a number of improvements in design, performance and imaging. The phone trims down to just 8.78mm, making it one of the slimmest flagship camera phones available, according to a report in GSM Arena. Despite its thinner build, it now meets IP68 and IP69 standards, offering superior protection against dust, water and high-pressure jets. The device also has a five-star drop resistance certification from SGS.

Performance And Display

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra keeps the same 6.82-inch LTPO OLED display as its predecessor. It still offers a premium viewing experience with 10-bit colour, a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, QHD+ resolution and 1,600 nits peak brightness.

Under the hood, the Find X8 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15.

Battery Life

The smartphone comes with a larger 6,100 mAh silicon-carbon battery. This is a notable upgrade of almost 20 per cent over the previous generation. It continues to support 100W wired SUPERVOOC charging, 50W wireless AIRVOOC and 10W reverse wireless charging.

Camera Upgrades

The Find X8 Ultra places a strong emphasis on photography. It retains the 50 50MP 1-inch Sony LYT900 sensor as its primary camera, still one of the largest in the industry. Oppo claims the sensor is 63 per cent larger than the one on Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max and 69 per cent bigger than the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 200 200MP sensor.

The real standout is the pair of new and improved periscope zoom cameras. The 3x telephoto lens now features a brighter f/2.1 aperture and a 70mm focal length, while the 6x telephoto has a larger 1/1.95-inch sensor and f/3.1 lens. This is a clear step up from the previous generation.

According to GSM Arena, Oppo said that users would be getting the “holy trinity” of lenses in their pocket. Oppo also introduced a True Chroma camera to ensure realistic colour reproduction under any lighting, backed by Hasselblad's image processing.

Imaging Software And Controls

Backing the hardware is Oppo’s next-gen HyperTone Image Engine, which promises advanced computational photography and better performance in low lighting. Features like AI tone mapping and the ProXDR engine aim to offer improved depth, dynamic range and detail.

New to the Find X8 Ultra are two physical buttons — a customisable shortcut button on the top left and a quick camera button on the bottom right. Both these buttons improve user experience and photography access.

Pricing

Available in Matte Black, Pure White and Shell Pink, the Find X8 Ultra will be sold in China starting Apr. 16. Pricing begins at CNY 6,499 (around Rs 76,000) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 16GB/512GB model is priced at CNY 6,999 (around Rs 82,000), and the top-end 16GB/1TB version will cost CNY 7,999 (around Rs 94,000).
