Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 17 series in September, introducing a new iPhone 17 Air model. All four iPhone 17 variants will have big updates over their predecessor, offering a uniform premium experience across the lineup, reports have suggested.
iPhone 17 Air remains the most talked-about model this year as it marks Apple's entry into the ‘ultra-slim' market. Said to be about half as thick as the pro models, the iPhone 17 Air will be introduced as a budget-friendly smartphone.
Ahead of the launch, leaks and dummy models have hinted at several design changes, but official details are awaited.
There are speculations that Apple might compromise on the Air model's battery due to its dimensions. However, some reports indicate that Apple could pack it with superior battery technology for enhanced performance. All variants will reportedly also feature 120Hz ProMotion and LTPO OLED displays.
Another highly discussed feature is the camera unit of the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup. Apple is expected to significantly upgrade camera systems across the iPhone 17 series. All models will reportedly feature a 24MP front camera, a notable revamp from previous versions.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are said to include 48MP sensors for all three rear cameras: wide, ultrawide and telephoto cameras. This will mark a major leap compared to the iPhone 16 lineup. The Pro models will also come with a new horizontal camera bar design. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air may feature a single 48MP wide camera, positioning it as a lightweight yet capable option.
The iPhone 17 and 17 Air are expected to feature Apple's new A19 chip, while Pro models may use the A19 Pro with up to 12GB RAM across all variants, earlier reports indicated.
A CNET report also suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could be available in a new sky blue colour option.
iPhone 17 Price
Amid concerns over US tariffs, the iPhone 17 lineup is expected to see a slight price hike. Apple has also held the price of pro models steady since 2017. Hence, a sharp price jump is anticipated for the latest series. In India, prices may start at Rs 89,900 and go up to Rs 1,64,900 for iPhone 17 models. In the US, they could start from $899, reports suggest.
