Google’s entry into Visakhapatnam with its new facility being established will position the state as a destination for knowledge economy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Monday.
"Very soon, Google will come to Vizag. World data will be handled from here. So, the analytics will happen here and AI will be used to transmit it to the world. So, Andhra Pradesh will emerge as a destination for the knowledge economy," Naidu said at an inauguration event in VIT-AP University in Amaravati.
Google and the Andhra Pradesh government signed a memorandum of understanding in December to establish an artificial intelligence data centre and cloud data centre in Visakhapatnam, marking the start of efforts to attract Google to the state.
"Our new progressive industrial policies have created a business-friendly ecosystem, attracting investors, and paving the way for employment opportunities. I am proud that Andhra Pradesh has been identified as a key partner," Naidu had posted on X when the MoU was signed. "I am confident that collaborations with global technology leaders such as Google will empower our state, ultimately contributing to India's digital growth story."
Recently, in a bid to make Vizag an IT hub, the Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 21 acres land for a symbolic value of 99 paisa to IT firm Tata Consultancy Services.
The proposal of land allotment has been approved in the cabinet meeting held earlier in April.
TCS will be setting up an IT facility in Visakhapatnam with a capacity of 10,000 employees and the state expects the company to create more job opportunities.
