Emergency and critical care medicine practitioner Manish Taneja demonstrated artificial intelligence's capabilities when it comes to diagnosing the health issues that a patient is suffering from as well as recommending the treatment and the medicine required.

Taneja posted a video on social media from his Instagram handle @resuscitateindia and showed the doctor describing an accident scenario to Google's Gemini AI and soliciting its diagnosis of the patient solely based on his descriptions of their symptoms. Taneja asked follow up questions regarding the prescribed treatment as well as the type of medicine to administer along with the dosage which the AI seemed to answer to his satisfaction.

The doctor seemed to take this as an indication that AI may also replace select roles within the field of medicine, especially those related to diagnosis of health issues and remedying the same. He posted the video with the captionAI is coming after your job'.

Taneja recommended understanding and collaborating with AI technology rather than staying under the assumption that it will not affect the job industry with regards to the field of medicine.

"This is today, imagine in five years, fools will tell you to not worry. Smart ones will utilise it for their benefit," Taneja said in a comment under his post.

Other users in the comments section pointed out that Taneja had the knowledge and understanding of complex medical procedures in order to accurately communicate the situation so that AI could provide a precise diagnosis, arguing that this indicates that AI would not be able to replace the utility that a human medical practitioner brings to the table.

"Sir, you are a doctor that's why you are able to ask this approach, no AI can treat patients by itself," a user commented.

Taneja replied to this comment and others like this saying that this may be true when it comes to the present day, but he did imply that this may not be the case in the future.
